With the 86th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, acquired via trade with the Vikings, the Chiefs select running back Kareem Hunt out of Toledo. To move up to No. 86, the Chiefs swapped third-rounders with the Vikings and threw in their fourth- and seventh-round picks too. according to Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star.

 86. Kansas City Chiefs

Pete Prisco’s Grade: B+
“This is when you take a productive back and get real value. Hunt is a good player and the Chiefs need a young back.”
Instant analysis
The days of Jamaal Charles carrying the Chiefs’ running game are long gone. The days of Kareem Hunt’s emergence might just be beginning. In Hunt, the Chiefs just added a running back who averaged 6.3 yards per carry in his four-year career at Toledo. He totaled 4,945 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns. Impressively, he showed off his ability to contribute in the passing game during his final season, catching 41 passes for 403 yards and a touchdown. There’s a very real chance Hunt will be the Chiefs’ starter, which is bad news for Spencer Ware. This is a great value pick.
Fantasy impact
“The Chiefs needed a running back, and Kareem Hunt was a good selection for this offense. He will push Spencer Ware to be the starter right away, and he will definitely have Fantasy value in seasonal leagues with a mid-round pick. If he picks up the offense then he’s going to play right away, and he’s a sleeper in all formats. He’s a first-round pick in rookie-only drafts and could be the No. 5 running back off the board behind Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffrey, Joe Mixon and Dalvin Cook.” — Jamey Eisenberg.

Hunt averaged an impressive 6.3 yards per carry over his career at Toledo and will add depth to the Kansas City Chiefs’ running game.
