Chris Stroud got a lucky break after his ball seemingly had a mind of its own during the opening round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Stroud and playing partner Brian Stuard made a bright start to the new-look team format, where one bizarre moment stood out from their four-under 68.
Beginning on the back nine, the pair reached the turn in 34 and were four under for the day when they made their way to the par-four eighth – their penultimate hole.

Jordan Spieth and Ryan Palmer grabbed a share of the lead after the opening day

Stroud’s tee shot found the rough and Stuard sent their second to the fringe off the green, where the ball suddenly started to move off its own accord.
The ball was stationary for some time when Stroud moved towards it, only for it to slowly start turning before rolling down the ridge and stop several feet closer to the flag.

After double-checking with a rules official that no infringement had been made, Stroud then drained a 20-footer to card an unlikely birdie.
