The five-time Ryder Cup star struggled to an opening-round 75 on Thursday and needed a low score on Friday to have any chance of making it through to the weekend, but carded a one-under 71.
Poulter has been playing under a medical exemption for the early part of this campaign and required $347,634 in prize money or 218.42 FedExCup points from 10 events to retain his full playing card.

Poulter was one stroke short of retaining his card at last week’s RBC Heritage

A final-round 73 and a share of 11th spot at the RBC Heritage left Poulter wanting $30,624 at TPC San Antonio this week, the 10th and final tournament of his exemption.
Needing a fast start to his second round, Poulter bogeyed the first but recovered from a stray approach at the next to roll in a five-footer for birdie.
The Englishman dropped a shot at the fourth and holed an eight-footer to save par at the next, before draining a 15-foot birdie at the par-five sixth.
Poulter slipped back over par for the round when he three-putted the seventh from 12 feet, but bounced back to birdie the next and nail a 35-footer at the ninth to reach the turn in 35.

Poulter has been a member of the PGA Tour since 2005

He couldn’t manage to make any further inroads during the back nine, failing to convert from 12 feet at the par-five 14th and from a couple of feet closer at the short 16th.
Sitting a two over for the tournament and looking for a final-hole eagle to have any chance of making the cut, Poulter fired his second shot into the water on his way to a closing par.
Poulter will still be eligible to appear in PGA Tour events, but will now rely on sponsors’ invitations and late entry to tournaments as an alternate for the remainder of the season.
